The tale around the Jurançon : King Henri’s Royal Banquets
They say the great King Henry IV, a great lover of good food and the good things in life, wanted the wine he drank to share a likeness with his mistresses and his kingdom: golden, delicate, voluptuous, sensual and terribly sweet, subtly fruity, intoxicating and passionate. And so a vineyard was planted and great care was taken so that the wine it produced would meet the demands of the King. Jurancon was born.
It became the accompaniment to the feasts of Henry IV and his court, and was the drink he shared with his conquests in the Royal alcoves. Today, dry or sweet, it perfumes the Jurançon Appetizer.
